Our Respite care services are designed to empower people with learning disabilities, giving them the confidence to enjoy a full and independent life.
Respite Stays
We’re pleased to be able to offer short-term respite stays in a safe environment that give carers a break while nurturing the ‘living skills’ of our attendees.
We have a self-contained, three-bedroom apartment (‘Re-Create Freedom’) above our Re-Create Discovery premises in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe. The first floor apartment is fully furnished, with a lounge, adjoining bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen (with washing machine and tumble drier). All stays are fully supervised by a qualified carer who ‘lives in’ for the duration of the break. All carers have successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
While staying at the apartment, attendees will be able to improve their domestic living skills, these include cooking; cleaning/tidying, laundry and bed changing. We also focus on personal care and hygiene as well as budgeting and money skills.
A respite break includes at least one overnight stay and can include a weekend or longer.
Re-Create Freedom is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and is also accredited with Suffolk County Council.
They assess our services regularly to check it is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
-
Our respite stays let parents/carers take a break from their caring responsibilities, enabling them to ‘recharge their batteries’, safe in the knowledge that the person they care for is being looked after.
Our attendees get a chance to improve their domestic living skills and experience semi-independent living in a safe and supervised environment.
